Strawberry Pickin'

We went on our first strawberry picking trip with all of us yesterday. I've not taken Joseph out anywhere but to the doctor so I thought we'd make it fine to take him on his first real outing. We went to Twin Oaks Farm in Forsyth and had a blast. We took a picnic and enjoyed the cool day, and Emily played on the playground, and fed the baby lamb. Joseph didn't care for the strawberry patch too much, but preferred the shade...smart boy!!! We got some good strawberries and are enjoying them in all ways you can eat them...except for me because they aggravate my allergies.
Since I last posted Joseph has come down with a horrible rash, and the doctor says it's eczema. I'm trying to leave off dairy for a week to see if that is what he may be allergic to. It gets really bad when we bathe him or when he gets mad. At first I thought it was just heat rash, but it started looking really bad so I took him to the Dr. We'll see what happens, but if it's not milk I'm drinking, the next thing I am going to try to eliminate is wheat. If you didn't know wheat is pretty much in everything we eat...or at least everything I eat. I've stopped eating eggs, and nuts b/c those are big allergen triggers. But first I'm trying milk, and if it's not that then I'll go to a more in depth elimination of wheat. If anyone has any tips on wheat free foods let me know.
Joseph loves his swing, and has been taking naps in it everyday. He slept this morning for 2 hours in it. I couldn't believe it. He also woke up ate and went back to sleep. I'm not sure if the reflux medicine is finally working or what but he's been a different baby over the past few days. I'd better go before he wakes to eat again. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Quite Time

Well for the moment it's quite in the Walker household. I'm sure if you have ever have kids, or have young kids now you know that quite time is hard to come by, and usually doesn't last long. But I know that this season of my life is oh so short, so I need to seize the day. Joseph has found something new he likes, his swing. We were finding ourselves rocking him when he was fussy, for what seemed like ALL DAY LONG, so I had Glenn bring up Emily's swings yesterday and he LOVES it. He'll swing and dose off for a little bit at least once a day. It gives me and my aching back a break. I would make a picture of him in it right now to post, BUT I don't want to wake him...so maybe when he's awake I will.

I went to Sunday school this morning and got to be in my class, with my friend who was filling in for me. I so have missed my little class, which has now grown to up to 9-10 kids on some Sunday's. I plan on going back next week to teach, and I'm so excited. We won't be taking Joseph though as I'd like to wait until he's had his 2 month shots...which is only another 2 weeks away. We'll work it all out though.
I'm not sure if I've posted this but Glenn's grandaddy had surgery last week for a ulcerated artery in his neck. They are pretty sure that after the surgery or during it he had a stroke, which has caused him to not be able to swallow. This week they put a feeding tube in (his stomach) and he'll be going to a nursing home this week. He'll be doing therapy and we pray will be regaining strength and will start swallowing so they can remove the feeding tube. Pray for his mom as she's in town helping Marsha Ann take care of everything. I'm sure you remember pictures I'd posted in February of his 90th birthday party. He's such a sweet man, and we pray he'll regain his strength soon.
I don't have any new pictures, but here are a few of what we've been doing in our spare time. Maybe I'll make some new pictures this week to post.

Joseph is 5 weeks

It's hard to believe that Joseph turned 5 weeks this week. Time sure does fly so fast. I can't believe that my moma is still with us helping...but I'm afraid this dream come true will be ending soon. She's talking of heading back to MS soon. I honestly don't know how we'll make it when she leaves, but we will. It'll be another adjustment, but we'll manage with God's grace and strength. I've had some minor issues with the breastmilk, but am hoping through prayer, and me eating and drinking more it is working itself out. Sorry to make it short but time is limited. Have a great weekend.

Sunny Weekend

We went out on the paddle boat this weekend out our neighbors house and this time I took my camera. Mr. Eldon & Mrs. Faye's azelas are in full bloom. You wouldn't believe how beautiful they are, these pictures don't do it justice!
Sorry so short on the narration, but that's just life these days. If I want to get a shower this morning so I can take Emily to story time I better do it while I have the chance! Poor baby Joseph hasn't been doing well during the days lately. He was awake Sunday and yesterday almost all day, except for the times when we rocked him, or I was carrying him in the sling. He wore himself out so that he did sleep good both nights, so for that I'm grateful. We pray that he'll start sleeping better during the day though. Hope you have a great week.

Joseph is 4 weeks old

I can't believe how time has flown...Joseph Benjamin is 4 weeks, and will be a month old tomorrow. I tried making his picture but with wild Emily around and with all his spitting up it's been hard. He hasn't been as content when he's awake as he was early on, so it makes photo shoots a little harder. I took him back to the Dr. yesterday about his reflux and they've switched him to Prevacid twice a day. I pray that it helps because I'm really concerned about all his screaming and spitting up. He won't sleep good during the day, so I hope once this medicine starts working he'll be a little more content.
They did weigh him and he's up to 9 pounds now, and 22 inches long...so he is growing. The reflux is definitely not causing him to lose weight or not gain weight. The Dr. did mention that to keep an eye out on his spitting up if it gets worse. He doesn't think it's anything more serious, but said that it could be pyloric stenosis. I pray it isn't for he'd have to have a surgery to correct the problem. It is where the muscles are too tight around the base of the stomach and intestines.
I hope you all have a great weekend. I apologize for not blogging much anymore, but things are just hectic around here, and we never have a break. I hope to get to exercise today, trying to work off this baby fat!!! Maybe one day it'll come off.

Mr. Eldon & Mrs. Faye's Botanical Yard

We have the blessed opportunity to be such good friends with some neighbors of ours who have the most beautiful yard I've ever seen. We got to know them really through my moma. All the times that she had been over here Moma has gotten to know this sweet couple and so we too have become good friends with them. They are about the same age as moma and daddy and Mrs. Faye and moma are like twins!!! We took Emily over to her house yesterday first to make pictures, and then to go fishing. All of her azaleas haven't bloomed, but I wanted to get some pictures with Emily over there while I had the chance.
It was a little cool out, so Emily wore her pants underneath her dress. The intentions were to pull the pant legs up when I was making pictures and take off her sweater for the pictures, but Emily said it was too cold. I wish I could go back and make more pictures when all of her azaleas are in full bloom, but it's hard getting Emily dressed up and by the time I feed Joseph, get her dressed and get over to their house it's time to feed Joseph again. And Emily loves to stay over at their house, for more than just a photo shoot. They have a wonderful swing that Emily would live on I think.

Picnik Pictures

These are just a few pictures I was playing around with on Picnik.com. It's a neat website you can go on and download pictures for free and edit them and create different effects to your own photos. Some of the features I have used I paid a small fee for a year to have access to, but I figure as much as I do it, it was worth it. It just gives life to ordinary pictures. Enjoy!!!
