4th of July Romper

I made Joseph a little 4th of July "Jon-Jon" today. Since he was just a tiny baby last year on the 4th I didn't really dress him, so this year I wanted to get him a cute outfit. It's not perfect by far, but it's still cute. The flag is embroidered on top of the blue with hand-stitched stars. I've not gotten the snaps yet, and haven't tried it on him, but I think it's going to fit fine.
While working on this today this is the sight I found when I was done with just part of the outfit....

Emily has been working on doing head-stands and she was going wild today...and doing pretty good. We've had a crazy wild day, but things are cleaned up and kids are in bed, so now it's time to relax and pray my headache goes away!!! I can't imagine why I have a headache HA HA!!!!

We Have Ourselves a Climber, NOT just a "Walker'

Well Joseph has learned how to climb over the past week. He can do it very well too, especially if he gets a running start. His favorite place to climb is the couch...as you see in these pictures. BUT you will catch him climbing on anything including the recliners, kiddie chairs, the book basket by way of getting on top of the end table that holds the CD player, and he also can get onto Emily's bed. You name it and he tries to climb it. I thought I was going to get by without having a climber but I was wrong. I just hope he doesn't figure out how to climb out of his crib. We lowered his crib to the bottom one and he wears a sleep suit at night so hopefully we won't have to worry about that just yet.

Of course Emily had to make her picture standing in a chair too. Don't worry Glenn's standing just outside the view and we pulled him down as soon as I made the picture. He hasn't quite figured out how to get down from all of his places he climbs. Today he had a pretty bad fall. Since I wasn't in the room I don't know what he did, and since Emily wasn't watching she doesn't either but his arm looked nasty. I honestly thought he'd broken it. BUT it just has a few red marks on it and I pray it doesn't bruise because it sure looked like it is going to.

Yesterday when we went outside to see how much rain we got Sunday night this is what we found in the front yard..."The tortoise & the Hare". I couldn't believe it myself. The rabbit obviously ran off, but the turtle stuck around long enough to entertain to young children.


Joseph was telling the rabbit something, and he actually said "rabbit" (well not clearly but you knew that's what he was saying). He loved watching it hop off. He didn't run away to fast and wasn't too scared of us, I think he may be one of the rabbits we "nursed" and helped out months ago.


Joseph just LOVES to be outside and these are just a couple of shots of him exploring!!!! I have to stay close by because he also likes to taste everything out there too!

Since he can't eat what he finds outside we have to feed him good inside. Last night we had a bunch of fresh summer vegetables: squash, zuchinni, corn, fresh snap beans, and he loved it all (with a little ketchup on his chicken too)


Today we took Emily, and her friend Mary Grace to the library for story time. We went last week but I didn't have my camera. Joseph did VERY well for a 15 month old. He sat in my lap the whole time she read the book and looked and listened. Then during the puppet show he wanted on the floor to sit. Isn't he just the cutest thing sitting here all by himself like a big boy.!

We had "Maisey the Mouse" there for a special guest and both girls had their picture made with him...and with their mouse ears on. After the library we headed home and the girls had a full day of play again. These 2 girls get along SO well, and it's such a pleasure and delight to have her come over. Again they both worked up such an appetite. They ate lunch and wanted Popsicles not too long after lunch, then got an ice cream cone, then a bowl of strawberries, then another fresh apple juice pop frozen, and finally some popcorn to watch a cartoon with. I guess playing hard can work up an appetite. Have a great week!!!

Update on Uncle Larry

I just wanted to post a quick update on Uncle Larry. He went to Birmingham yesterday, and Dr. Seigel is going to be his Orthopedic Oncologist. From what I gathered from talking to Becky today he thinks it will be a simple surgery. He talked like they'll just go in, remove the areas around where the tumor was, test them in pathology to see if and when they're clean and then close him up. I am sure it's much more in depth than that, but he says that it will be out patient surgery but he might be in a sling for a little while to keep his arm and shoulder still. He had 2 MRI's done yesterday, one with out contrast and one with contrast. Each MRI took almost an hour, and due to lack of help, or communication they didn't get finished until 5:15 pm. His appt. was at 10:50 am yesterday, so they had a LONG day without any real food. They were definitely ready to get home last night. Keep praying for this cancer to be totally removed from his body and that no more will appear anywhere else. Also pray for Larry as he awaits the surgery on July 7. Pray he'll not be anxious and too worried. Pray for him to have a calm spirit like NO one else can but the Holy Spirit can give. Thanks in advance for your prayers!!!!

Mid-Week Update

We've had a pretty "normal" week so far here at the Walker household. After moma was here for 2 weeks, we kind of had to adjust to not having her here on Monday, but we survived. Tuesday was story time at the library, and Emily's friend Mary Grace came with us and then back to the house for the day. Both the girls played hard all day and we had loads of fun. We hope that she can come back again soon. She and Emily play so well together and complement each other perfectly. Emily is the "loud-mouth" dramatic one, and Mary Grace is the quiet, low-key, never pitch a fit, girl! I have to remind Emily often though to not be too bossy or over bearing, but she's doing MUCH better, I guess Mary Grace is rubbing off on her.
Today we had to take Joseph back to the Dr. for his toes and for a mosquito bite he got above his eye. The bite made his eye red and swollen yesterday like he had been punched. Dr. Jason says that his toe is an infection still, paronychia, and that his eye could be a little infected too. He was more concerned with the eye because he said those kinds of things can turn into staff infection if not treated properly. SO another antibiotic, which I was NOT happy about, but Dr. knows best, I guess.

Anyway, other than all this we've been enjoying our days, mostly spent indoors due to the 100 degree plus temps lately. We are praying for rain and hope to see some later today, they've been getting it in MS, so hopefully it'll come our way. Spending more time indoors definitely requires much more prayer because we are an outdoor family!!! These walls can get a little to close for all our comfort at times. From this prayer God has really placed alot of things on my heart lately, and I'm really excited about. I know this is totally coming out of nowhere, but God has finally brought me to a spot in my life where I'm actually happy with where I am. For so long I feel like I fought about living so far away from my family, and Glenn's family too. But through some comments I've read this week, God just made me realize that I would rather live 500 miles away from where I "think" I want to be and be in God's will, THAN live where I "think" I want to live and be totally OUT of God's will.

For me to say this and finally feel this may offend some, but for me it is a total revelation from God. I've prayed for this day for 6 years and I'm thankful and praise God that I've finally come around. Yes it would be wonderful to live next door to mine and Glenn's parents, but look what God has done in and through Glenn and I because we are apart from them. Oh I know that one day we will most likely live closer to family, but for now I know we are right where we need to be. Life is made of seasons, and we are in different seasons of our lives for different purposes. We may not like the season, or we may think that our season is in fact better than some one elses, but truth be told, God decides the course of our lives, and we must ALL be content in it no matter what it may be.

With that said, I must go, Joseph awakens from his nap. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!!!

Happy Father's Day Glenn!

Emily was so excited to get home from church to give Glenn his Father's day gifts that she made. This card was one she made at school before they finished in May. We made another one similar to it in Sunday school for all our preschoolers dads.


She wanted to paint him a picture on a canvas for his office. Can you tell what she wanted to paint? It's her favorite thing to do, and go with her daddy.......

The Neshoba County Fair. It's our cabin and the one next to it (that is the same color, only she would remember that), and the ferris wheel and what she says is a carousel. These 2 LOVE the fair and it's all they've been talking about since it's only about a month away.

We also made paper ties for the daddies too, and I gave them a cute little baggie of "Donuts for Dad". We hope it's been a great Father's day!

Happy Father's Day!

We love our daddy, can you tell!!!! Each and every day around 5:30pm we celebrate "Daddy's Home". Both kids absolutely go crazy when daddy gets home from work each and every day. Every Saturday Emily says, "Today is Saturday, YAY, daddy's home all day". Words can't describe how much we love Glenn. He is definitely a sweet, loving, fun, and caring daddy. Although he does sometime have to work late, and work on some things at home, he usually spends every hour he can with us at home. He doesn't stay late at the office, and come in demanding food on the table, and to be able to watch TV as soon as he walks in the door. This daddy comes in grabs his kids and hugs and plays with them! Can you tell they love him and know he loves them!!!!
BUT sometimes being such a "famous" person can wear on you. I thought this picture below was priceless. But seriously, being a good Father is hard work.

I think that it is very important for a daddy to play and spend lots of fun time with their kids, and since both of ours are still very young, that is exactly what they love doing. Last night we played some tag, and hide-n-seek (a typical evening activity for us), and we obviously wore Emily out because as soon as she laid her head on the pillow last night she was asleep, Glenn said.

But aside from all the playtime Glenn does with the kids he does SO much more. He reads to Emily every night and puts her to sleep. He lays in her bed for a little bit until she falls asleep. Not every daddy does that, but as a hint more should, because Glenn actually catches himself a nap while he's doing it, pretty good deal if you ask me, ha ha.
But aside from all these things, Glenn is a good Christian example for his kids. He's up every Sunday ready for church and gets us all there for Sunday school (which for us is no small feat considering we have to be there at 8:30am). He's always willing to lend a hand when someone is in need, and I think that our children have actually brought so much more out in him than he use to be. Thank you Glenn for being such a good daddy, we love you and appreciate you more than you'll ever know!!!! God has truly blessed us with a wonderful daddy!

But I can't let Father's day pass without recognizing a couple of other daddy's. I wouldn't be where I am today without my own daddy. If you know him, you know as well that words can't describe my daddy, Mack Alford. From early on I always remember sitting in church next to him, all dressed in his suit and all, thinking that he was the preacher. He always taught us, with my moma, in Sunday school and oh the things we learned!
There's not many people who my daddy doesn't know in Philadelphia, and if he doesn't know you he will get to know you and find out who you're kin to and you just might find out that you're actually related in some way. Growing up I remember daddy being on this tractor an aweful lot. Of course my brother was interested more in tractors than I was, but I always like watching him ride the tractor, plow the gardens and feed the cows from it. I do have such a rich heritage and SO many memories that I hope to share with my children.
Happy Father's day daddy, sorry we didn't get to MS to spend it with you, but we'll be there for the Fair next month!!!!
Finally, we wouldn't be where we are as a family if it weren't for Glenn's daddy, Gary Walker. Since I'm writing this I can't give you funny stories or memories for Glenn, but I can say that i know Glenn is who he is today because of the wonderful impact of his daddy.
Brother Gary, is a music minister so Glenn grew up a child of a minister and was influenced in so many wonderful ways because of this. Glenn's daddy, besides his ministry, has a love for the outdoors and yard. I didn't realize this until after we were married and got a house of our own, but he can pretty much grow anything!!! Every year they have many "crops" from their garden, some of which is in a small kiddie pool, I never knew you could plant a garden in a kiddie pool until I saw his!!! We've learned alot from him about growing things in a small space. We can't wait to see them when they come in a couple of weeks for the 4th of July.
