I love stickers!

Emily has discovered stickers and absolutely loves putting them on everything. She learned it at church, but we've started doing them at home. I didn't realize it but letting her play and stick them on paper is great for fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. She's doing pretty good with it too. Happy Monday

Hey everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. I got some much needed rest, as I've been sick lately. I've still got this aweful cough, but it's getting better. Pray that Emily still stays free from it. We had a great weekend, with Glenn's parent's and brother coming into town. We didn't get to see them as much as we'd hoped because 1. of me being sick, and 2. they were helping pack up Glenn's grandaddy since he has to move by mid-April. Emily enjoyed seeing them, and getting to sing and play with her granmama and grandaddy. She also loved playing with her uncle Randy & great aunt Marsha Ann. I got some cute pictures of them yesterday. I didn't have my camera with me the rest of the weekend, so I didn't get many pictures. This is really the first day I feel somewhat "normal" so I've been out of it.

I hope you have a great day. Please keep me in your prayers and I complete the 2nd children's book I've written and illustrated. I'm trying to get in touch with publishers now, and don't have a clue what I'm doing. I hope that there will be a publisher out there who will accept my book. This is going to be a fun and learning experience for me!!!

What a rainy day!

Well we have had the most rain this week that we've had in a long time. I'm not complaining just stating the fact, and praising the Lord for it. I haven't blogged much this week, because I've had this flu bug that's been going around. I'm still having trouble breathing and have a bad cough, but the aching has stopped. This is really the first time I've been sick since staying at home. It's a tough job being very sick, and trying to care for a child, at the same time as trying not to spread it to her.

Good Morning!

I hope everyone who reads this is having a great day so far. Believe it or not I actually got up earlier this morning (which is late for most people). I did some "projects" with Emily yesterday and wanted to share some of these pictures with you. While my moma was here last week she kept saying, "I wish there were some things we could do to help Emily learn, besides her just running around all day." Well when mamaw is in town, a little toddler does anything but sit. She was so excited to have them here that we couldn't even get her to sit down and read a book. Well, now that they are gone the schedule is a little different. We had reading time yesterday morning, followed by an art lesson, which she didn't like too much, then we did some science & math, and then some pretend play with her baby doll. Of course as with every morning we had music time too (she has a new favorite song, "The Muffin Man").

While thinking about ways to help Emily learn and develop I was also reminded of something from a seminary class I took. Several times they stressed that you need to let kids just be kids, and babies be babies. So many parents today force learning on their kids that they come to hate it instead of enjoy it. So far the things we've done with Emily have been fun things, and nothing to force her into "learning". She's learning she just doesn't realize it.

She didn't like the colored whipped cream on her hands.

She didn't really like this project too much. I guess she's going to be like me, and not like dirty stuff on her hands.

Now this she liked, putting the macaroni into the bowl. This is fun and helps her with hand-eye coordination at the same time. I had to watch her carefully though because she would've tried to eat it...hey aren't you suppose to eat little pieces like this, is what she'd say.

Before it was over she was pouring it everywhere, I let her do it for a while just to experiment, but then it got out of hand and we had to quit. We had macaroni everywhere, so then we had clean up time!!

Later on we had some pretend play with her baby. She was offering her some of her orange juice, but only after she'd drank it all. You know Emily you can waste a drop. This was also her first time to have orange juice.

Toot, toot, I play the flute!!! Her new little toy that make alot of loud noise. She can blow it pretty good. I think that she will go into music one day, even though I'd prefer her to go into art. She loves the Muffin Man song, and I wish I could get a video of her dancing to it and post it, but I'm not that computer savvy.

We survived the bad weather last night, and got to spend 45 minutes in the basement. A tornado passed by us by 5-10 miles and went straight through the northern part of the county. I haven't heard of much damage, but know that alot of people's power was out, and several trees and poles were down. I had to go to church at 5pm for our children's choir, and then called Glenn and he said to come on home it was going to get pretty bad...well 30 minutes after getting home the sirens started going off, and 13wmaz was saying a tornado was coming straight on hwy 80 headed in our direction...so we headed downstairs. Emily didn't care, and we just played in our unfinished basement. God is gracious and watched over us. I pray and hope that if you read this and live in our area that you were safe last night.

Well, my parents went back to MS on Saturday, and we sure do miss them. Before they left we had some friends who are missionaries in Kotzebue, Alaska come by who are down in the lower 48 doing a missions conference. It was neat to talk with them and hear stories from up there. They were telling us how a gallon of milk costs $9. A gallon of gas is around $10, and a can of beans or any vegetable is around $3.50 (we pay less than a dollar some places). I didn't realize it but when I told him that I had quit at Mabel White back in November he remembered my name and that I had the kids there make cards and we sent up to them several years ago. I didn't realize then that my family knew them. Anyway, it was a neat time. Keep them in your prayers this week and then as they fly back on Thursday. There names are John and Terri Forrester.

Happy Valentines Day

I hope you all have a great Valentines day today. Instead of thinking of love as the world looks at love remember today the Love God has for us. It's so easy on Valentines to think of ourselves and others, flowers, jewelry, chocolate, and cards. Nothing is wrong with that, but use this day to tell someone, or show someone the love that God has shown to us, through Jesus Christ.

Mamaw and Papaw are here!

My parents came over to see us on Monday and are staying the week. We've been having a lot of fun so far. Yesterday we went over to the lake and played in the sand and on the playground. The wind was blowing SO hard we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we'd hoped. Emily loved the slide (as she did before), and this time we let her go down the tall one by herself. It was so funny because she started laughing so hard she was snorting.

I've been tagged

Amy Watson tagged me, so now I have to tell seven weird/strange things about myself...this may take awhile since there are more than seven, I have to narrow them down.

1. I am a cleaning freak! I love to vacuum, mop, clean showers, wash dishes and dust. My moma is one too so I guess that is where I get it from. Poor Glenn hardly ever gets to do anything anymore now that I'm at home (ha ha).

2. I am obsessed with exercise. If I don't get to do aerobics, run on treadmill, or walk at least 6 days a week I'm real cranky. Also when I was 15 I found out my cholesterol was elevated for my age, and started worrying I might be the youngest person to have a heart attack, so I started exercising.

3. I have the biggest imagination of anyone I know. (Not a good thing sometimes). When I was little I use to pretend I was everything, and actually believed it. Now I just get scared easy because I have a hard time distinguishing from "fantasy" to reality... Meaning, I can't watch CSI: Miami, or else I won't sleep for weeks.

4. I am a germaphopic, and wash my hands all day (something you do anyway with changing diapers all day). I hand sanitize my hands and Emily's when we leave stores. She also has to ride in a buggy protector (you know the cute little cloth thing they just came out with to keep babies from the germs on buggies.) Ugh, just think of whose hands have touched a shopping cart, and where their hands have been. I witnessed something one time that was totally gross so that is why I hardly ever let Emily or myself touch a buggy without wiping it off.

5. I don't like fast food restaurants except Chick-fil-A and Zaxby's (which really isn't fast). I will eat at them, but just don't like to.

6. I don't like the TV turned on in the morning before I have had some quiet time, and had breakfast. I especially hate having the TV on on Sunday mornings before church...this is a huge pet peeve with me, that is why we never do (unless it's an emergency weather check).

7. The last thing, but not the only thing, that is strange about me is that I absolutely love "Little House on the Prairie". It comes on everyday four times a day and I try to watch some of it. Now that we have Emily and since she's been sick I don't get to see hardly any of one episode. I also love the movie, "Anne of Green Gables, and Avonlea". For my high school graduation we traveled up to Prince Edward Island, Canada to see where it was filmed. It was a very cool time!!!

Ok now that that is finished, I guess I need to tag someone else...I tag Carley Hinton!!! Go for it girl, now that you have a blog you didn't know you had.

Good afternoon to you all. Well it's another day at the Walker house, but not a quiet one. We don't seem to have quiet days any more, hmm I wonder why, maybe because our little one is moving into the "terrible two's" a little early. Well besides the crazy stuff that's been going on a lot of good has been happening too.

We are doing a John Piper Bible study on Wednesday nights and let me just say it's a good one. I'm not sure if it is a good study or if I'm just ripe for the information from it. Through this tough week God has shown me so much, a lot about Him and eternity. I don't know why but God has been bringing verses everyday to me about the end times. I'm not one to usually focus on Revelation and the rapture of the Lord, but He obviously wants me focusing on it. Well, as I picked up my study today for the new week, what was it on? Of course, the coming of the Lord for eternity out of 1 Thessalonians. WOW, as I've have stressed out this week about an irritable toddler, there are bigger things I need to be focusing on, like making sure everyone I come in contact with hears about the Love of God through Jesus and His saving power. While I've been thinking about cleaning house, what's for supper, do I have pictures to put on my blog, will I get to walk or do aerobics today, will I have time to do my Bible study, oh and all the countless things that cloud my mind every day...I should be focusing on more eternal matters!!!

Many of you, like myself, struggle with evangelism but God has really sparked something in me and for this I am grateful. I just pray for all of us as believers to catch this spark and realize that we do not live for ourselves, but for God and to bring Glory to Him through and in all things.

I hope you have a great weekend, and I do still pray that my little girl will straighten up soon. She's got 4 more molars to cut so I think that could also be a part of her fussiness.

Spoke too Soon

Well my last blog, I must have spoken to soon about my little girl who doesn't even act sick. We spent the entire day yesterday with her screaming! My Dr. closed at 1pm so i couldn't get any help until after 5pm at the after hours clinic. Well they gave her some numbing drops (which I should have been given by her Dr. in the first place) and they helped over night. She's back to screaming today though. Please pray that she gets well soon, or I will need checking into a crazy home.

God brought me these words of relief and encouragement a few minutes ago.

"In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me." Psalm 31:1-2

I love the part about come quickly to my rescue. I needed a quick rescue this morning as she started fussing again, because my fuse has already been burned all the way today. I was praying, and pleading to God for help earlier, and just said "God, live this day for me, I cannot do it and don't want to, so I just turn it to you." I'm not saying I feel numb now, but I think that in times like these we do have to die to ourselves. We are to do this daily, but I think it took on more meaning of what this means finally today. Isn't it funny how God uses certain circumstances to teach us things!

Please pray for us today, especially Emily as she has again not had a long nap!

Well my suspicions were correct...Emily has double ear infections again. We went to the Dr. and she said her ears look pretty bad. This really surprises me because Emily hasn't really had a high fever, nor has she been that irritable. God has really blessed us with a sweet little girl. While we were waiting another mom was their with her daughter and asked what was wrong with Emily because she seemed so happy, and not sick at all. She didn't however like the Dr., as sweet as she is, she hated her looking in her ears (probably because they hurt).

For whoever is reading this please pray that Emily's ears will clear up and that she won't have another ear infection for at least 3-6 months. I've found myself feeling guilty this morning because Emily had NO trouble with anything until I quit work back in November. I thought that staying at home with them was suppose to keep them well, not make them more sick? Anyway, here are some pictures of Emily waking up this morning and then her reading her book in her little chair (does she look like she's got double ear infections to you?) Have a great Tuesday.

I don't have much time to write this morning, since I hear Emily waking up from her nap. She has not been napping good lately, please pray for that. I fear that she has another infection of some kind, so I'm sure we'll be going to the Dr.'s office this week again.

Well I pray you all had a great weekend and day of worship yesterday. We certainly did and are both loving singing in the choir now. It is totally different from what we have been doing over the past years. I am also the new children's choir pianist, so that is fun. God is allowing me to use talents that I haven't been able to use in several years, it's really neat.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous this afternoon. We decided to take Emily to the park, and since it was only her 2nd trip to the park it was an experience. She watched all the other kids and parents more than she wanted to play. She is the most concerned, observant little baby (toddler) I've ever seen, in other words she is extremely nosy.

She loved the slide this time, but didn't like the swings at all. Enjoy these pictures and have a great rest of the weekend.
