What a Hot Summer!!!

I know that most everyone who reads this blog lives in the South, and has been having these horrible hot temperatures and heat indexes! I've not gotten outside to really do anything in weeks. Joseph doesn't like his mommy to get too hot and sweaty. I made a few pictures this morning of Joseph at 14 weeks (I think). He's really getting bigger and longer. I always do photos in red, white and blue around the fourth and of course Emily had to get in on this photo shoot. I got some good ones of holding him and reading to him. She did a great job, and he really loves her to read to him.

Joseph Benjamin is 3 Months Old

I can't believe that Joseph is already 3 months old! Time has really flown by. He is really "talking" alot lately and enjoys singing along with the music from his birds, mobile or bouncy seat. He moves all over his bed during the night so we've had to put him in a blanket safety sleeper instead of swaddling like we were doing. He LOVES his burp cloths and his bath towels. He loves having one next to his face when you change his diaper and also has been going to sleep by himself in his crib cuddled up to his little burp cloth. This is kind of dangerous as you're not suppose to let them fall asleep with loose blankets around because of suffocation. BUT I am constantly in and out of his room when he does this checking on him. We are thinking of getting one of those video monitors so we can watch and see what he's doing without having to go in to his room every time. We didn't have one with Emily, but wish we had. It will be useful not only now but even later on.
We are slowly adjusting to a household of 4 instead of 5. It has been somewhat lonesome around here for me, as I enjoyed having my moma (and best friend) here to talk to all day while Glenn's at work. I guess Glenn will soon be realizing how much she did as he gets his ears talked off when he gets home everyday. Emily has surprisingly done well the past 2 days. Especially since I had to take her to the ENT yesterday for her ears...only to discover it wasn't her ears, but a throat infection, pharyngitis from all the drainage she's had. She has been a HUGE help for me, bringing clothes to the washing machine and loading it for me...bringing me glasses of water when I'm feeding Joseph and helping me with other little things. I've made sure to really brag on her positive behavior in hopes that she'll keep it up. Don't let me fool you because she's had her moments for sure, but over all she's done very well lately.
I hope that you all are surviving this HOT last few days of spring, and will have a great weekend. We hope to get more rain for sure to help water our garden. Right now we have zucchini, squash (which is dying off), cucumbers, tomatoes and eggplants. It's been nice this year having "crop". Next year we'll hopefully get the garden in better shape.

Mamaw Sherry Has Gone Home

Well we said good-bye to Mamaw Sherry today as she headed back to MS. Emily has been sad all day, poor thing. Every now and then she'll just say, "I just want to cry" or "I'm sad". It could be that Jack died on the episode of Little House that we were watching, but I honestly think it was because Mamaw left this morning. We will truly miss her, and no one will know how much we have appreciated her being here. I know Glenn will miss her as she did most of the cleaning and cooking!!! I will miss her and so will Joseph, he has had a poor little face today like "something is different". We can't be too sad as we'll see she and the rest of the crew in the mountains in 2 weeks and 4 days. I thought I'd post these few pictures real quick before we get the bed time routine underway. Photo Shoot

I had a few minutes to do some photos this morning and just thought I'd share them with you. Joseph will be 3 months old this week, 13 weeks on Wednesday. I can't believe how time has flown so fast! Emily loves him more and more every day. She still has her moments of jealousy, but don't we all. I wrote yesterday about her tantrums, and still ask for prayer about those. She seems better at times but then at some times it's just as bad. I know that this phase of life will pass all too quickly so I just pray for God's wisdom in knowing how to deal with it.
God has been speaking to me lately about my priorities, and our families priorities, and I just wanted to post a little bit about it today. I have been real burdened lately with how much time I and our family spends on the computer...especially on Facebook. I really love facebook and how it keeps me updated on all my friends back home in MS. I just feel that social networking has taken too much of a place in our lives instead of real life socializing. I could go on forever on this, but I just hate it how people will just send you a message (txt on through facebook) instead of calling you on the phone. I am not sure why our society has become like this but I just hate to see it happen. I for one know it is much easier to write someone instead of calling, especially with young children in the house, but I just think it's not the best way. I surely don't want to hurt anyones feelings I just feel that it's best for me to stop communicating through the computer and start doing it through real-life. If I have offended anyone please forgive me, but this conviction is upon me and I do not cast judgement upon anyone else.I just pray that my children will grow up knowing how to relate to others and communicate with others away from a cell phone or computer. Real Life is About to Begin!

VBS is over and my moma is heading back to MS tomorrow, so real life is about to begin. Keep us in your prayers, as we've been having trouble with Emily and her tantrums. I have really been worried about her and been praying she'll stop these soon. These are just a few pictures from VBS family night Friday night. I won't be blogging much anymore (not that it matters because I don't think anyone ever reads my blog), but will try to update once a week or so. VBS Day 5, Last day

We had a fun last day of VBS. We have family night tonight, but our last day is over. Emily enjoyed VBS more than anyone else I think. She loved going in her class, lining up outside and marching in with them...and giving her offering each day. I can't believe she's already old enough to be doing this. They won't be singing in front tonight, which I'm not happy about, but she has learned a few of the songs in the worship rally. She's loved the whole atmosphere and I hate to see it end for her sake, but I am glad to see it end for poor baby Joseph's sake. He's missed his mommy this week. I can tell a difference in him, and he hasn't been sleeping as good at night. I hope this stops next week! Enjoy the pictures!

VBS Day 4

I can't believe that VBS will be over tomorrow. This is 6 of the kids in her class, out of the 14 they have. These are my regulars that we have in Sunday school. Emily has enjoyed it SO much. She had a little tough time today, but I just hope it's nothing. She says it hurts when she tee tees, so we'll see when she wakes up from nap. I feel like my life is just such a huge drama! It's always something around here. Other than that, we've enjoyed VBS very much. We will have withdrawals next week for sure. Little Joseph has just had to hear about it from us, as we've left him here at home with my moma. He's not been complaining though!I made some new pictures of him this week, and I can't believe how LONG he is. He's 25 inches long now, and probably 11 pounds. So he's a long skinny little thing. He really is talking and smiling. He loves watching his big sister play and read books to him. If she walks by he will do everything he can to turn that head and follow where she's going. I can't believe how alert and attentive he is at only 12 weeks. He had been sleeping through the night, until this week, but he's still going 7 hour stretches between feedings. I'm just hoping he is just having a growth spurt. I hope you're all having a great week.
