Mid-week ramblings

It's Wednesday, and I'm glad that this week and month are almost over. I know that sounds pessimistic, but February is my least favorite month, for some odd reason. I guess because you're sick of the cold weather by now and are hoping for some WARMNESS soon. Anyway, Emily has been pretty good today, after getting spankings and going to time-out all week. Maybe it's helping a little..."God help us to have strength" is what I pray.

I have SO many prayer requests it's crazy lately. The newest is for my friend Diana, in TN, who's brother is undergoing his first round of chemo tomorrow. BUT Diana just recently discovered she has 3 cysts on her ovaries, one is questionable. She also is having some other abdominal pain and will have some other tests soon. Please pray for her to not be anxious, and for God to completely heal her body.

Continue to pray for David (my cousin's husband) and that the skin graphs will heal completely. Also, for my Papaw as he had skin cancers removed from his ear last week.
For a short rambling and to make you laugh, Emily and I went for a walk after lunch. As we walked down the quiet road, I noticed and came up with an idea for us to do. Several of the houses are for sale in our neighborhood and one of them was of a family who had kids. They left their swing set, slide and toys there when they moved, SO I thought it would be no harm for us to walk around and let Emily play on it for a while. Up in the play house were several things left by the family, and one was non other than a baby doll!!! Emily didn't touch it, and I kept telling her that no one lives here, but they left this stuff here. Well as I was giving my 5 minute warning before we left, she marched up the house and grabbed the baby and took hold of it like she was rescuing it. I kept telling her we couldn't take it, because I wasn't ours (even though it didn't really belong to anyone...and obviously she knew that). I waited for her to take it back into the play house and what did she do...??? but march out the back yard to the front and got ready to head down the street to home. She never even turned around to see if i was coming. She wasn't a kid who just wanted another toy to play with and would pitch a fit to get it....she was determined she was going to save this baby. I could see in her little mind, that someone abandoned this child and I HAVE to save it. Over course it was dirty, SO I threw it in the washing machine and it's still drying (if it will ever dry completely). She cried when i put her down b/c she wanted it, but when she wakes up I'm sure that will be the first thing she asks for.

I though this would make you laugh...I thought it was SO sweet. Sorry if you think I did wrong in letting her take it but you'll get over it. So will daddy when he gets home :) Hope you have a great week.

Monday Post

It's my Monday post...and update from the weekend. Emily got her tubes on Friday and did great with it except the ear drops. I e-mailed Lynne and she told me to stop using them...well I didn't listen and used them Saturday with her. That evening when I did them she screamed like crazy. I couldn't get her to stop...I even told her she could have ice cream...and she didn't stop. So, I put a call in to the after hours and let them know what was going on. The Doctor called me back and said that the ear drops burn on a normal healthy ear, and that her ear must be healed fast. So we've stopped the drops and she's fine. She's been sneezing a lot today so I hope she's not caught a cold. The weather has been SO crazy lately that everyone has been sneezing.

I have a few praises I want to let you know about (even though I didn't get a chance to ever post them as prayer requests).
On Friday my cousin's husband, David was burned badly at work (my cousin Amy and her husband David above). He was using a torch to weld and his clothes caught on fire. They flew him over to Augusta that afternoon and they did surgery on his hand, chest, side and back on Saturday. He has 3rd degree burns on his back, side and chest. His hand I think is worse than 3rd degree, but I'm not sure if that would be 4th degree or what. Anyway, they did skin graphs on him and was sent home, to Mississippi, yesterday. They have an outpatient burn clinic in Brandon, MS and he will go there Friday for them to change the dressings. He's at home and to have NO visitors for 2 weeks. The next Friday the doctors from Augusta will fly to Jackson and look to see if the skin graphs are taking and healing. IF not they'll fly him back to Augusta to have more surgery. Please pray that he will not be in much pain, and that he'll keep free from infections. Pray that the skin will take and heal.

A second praise is that a friend of mine's husband was going to be out of town (gone to Missouri) for 5 weeks, and she just wrote me and said that he's coming back that they made a mistake. The kicker is they have 5 kids (infant, 2 yr old, 5 yr., 7, and 9 I think that's their ages). I was real concerned with them with him being gone so long, but Praise the LORD he's not going to be gone!!! God is so good.

Emily's Tubes

Emily got her tubes put in today and she was a trooper. We got there at 8:00am and they didn't call us back until 9:00am!!! Poor thing, she was starting to ask for juice as other kids in the waiting room had their juice cups but she was fine. They took her vitals (blood pressure, pulse, temp) and then we talked to Dr. Duke and Dr. Wilson. Mrs. Lynne came out and told her that she had a balloon hidden in the back and she wanted Emily to come help her find it and then she'd get to blow it up. SO Emily had no trouble going back with her (this is Hannah's mom, Emily's best friend ever). They took her at 9:30, and came and got us at 9:50, so she wasn't asleep but maybe 15 minutes. When we went to the back she was cuddled in Lynne's lap rocking. I don't think Lynne wanted us to come back, she was enjoying it! Most kids wake up screaming but Emily didn't she was SO sweet. She seemed a little drugged for about 15-20 minutes but she woke up good and ate and drank some juice. Once she ate lunch at 11:30 she was back to normal, talking non-stop and running around.

I laid her down for a nap at 2:00 though and went to the treadmill and 30 minutes later Glenn comes walking in the garage with Emily...who'd woken up screaming. I took her and rocked her and she's slept for a few more minutes. I just hope she sleeps tonight!!! Here's some pictures from this morning on the way there, and then after we got home. Emily's New Outfit

Well I made Emily a little pant suit tonight and I'm shocked how good it turned out. The style now is to wear the little ruffles on the bottom of the pants, and a long jumper like top that matches. I found some material I bought back when I made her dress for her 1 year birthday party, and I had enough to make this. I took a pair of her black pants and and cut off a little at the bottom and stitched some fabric to make a ruffle on it. I bought some more cute fabric today (with a big discount b/c I had a coupon) so I'll be working on some other things now.

As a praise our music minister and his wife, Josh and Katie, had their baby tonight, little Sophie. I don't have her weight and height yet because she was just born, but I do know she had a pretty short labor, so it's good they were at the hospital when they broke her water at 6:00, because she was born a little after 7:15 ish (pm). I'll give more updates on them when I hear.

Emily goes for her pre-op tomorrow morning to Dr. Jason and to Dr. Duke. It was funny because right before supper tonight, "Arthur" was on tv, and it was about when "D.W." his sister got tubes put in her ears. Emily was watching it very closely. I think it made me more nervous than her. I know it's going to go fine, BUT every woman and parent worries a little bit, I wouldn't be normal if I didn't. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Resting believe it or not!

I just finished a 2 mile walk on the treadmill while Emily takes a nap...she'll be up any minute now though. After the walk, I have been sitting in the recliner relaxing, as much as I can. I usually don't sit down to just do nothing...if I am sitting I'm usually sewing, stitching, or reading. It has been peaceful that is for sure. Emily has been a terrible two lately, but only because she's about to cut her top 2 year molars. I can see the blisters forming so I know they'll be popping through soon. She's been a bit clumsy the past few days too, falling, running into things, and just getting hurt! SO we've been hearing alot more crying and having to fix "boo boo's" lately. So far today she hasn't done anything "new". She is still mending from her fall on the concrete and hit on the bed to her eye. I'm hoping that getting tubes will help her balance, we'll see.

Do you ever just feel "slow"? I mean your whole thought process and actions? Today I have felt slow in everything I do. Obviously I wasn't slow walking b/c I did 2 miles in 30 minutes, but my mind is just slow. I need to pick it up a notch because Emily will be awake in a minute and we're carrying some muffins we made this morning to Mrs. Katie's house (she's expecting a little baby girl any day now). It's our music minister and his wife, and their little girl will be Sophie.

Happy Valentines Day

We have all had a good Valentines day...to be honest it was just like most Saturday's, but we did exchange cards and had fun with it. We had to do our usual Saturday errands (Wal-mart) but it seems to be getting harder and harder as prices go up. It really hit me hard today. I thought I did a good job of keeping items to a minimum and having coupons, BUT it just added up WAY too much today. Let me get off that soapbox we're all experiencing...no need to grumble b/c God always provides.Yesterday Emily hit her face right on the corner of her eye while standing on the bed. I had just told her to sit down, when her feet fell out from under her and her eye caught itself on the back of the wooden bed. It hasn't turned "black" yet, but it's a light purple around it. She cried FOREVER with it, and I imagine it did hurt. After that accident she kept having them. She turned around and ran into our bedroom door and hit her mouth (it didn't bleed), then later she ran into another door trying to go outside and hit her eye that was bruised from earlier. Today while helping Glenn unload the groceries she fell on the concrete and scraped 3 of her knuckles!!! After all this we're just following her and constantly telling her to "Watch Out" or "Slow Down". Poor thing, maybe getting her tubes in her ears on Friday will help...maybe it's all that fluid in there causing her to be dizzy or something ???

I made her a new little jumper today...just a cute plain little thing (inspired by my husband).

We had Glenn's grandaddy and aunt over for supper and had a good time eating spaghetti, salad, french bread and home-made angel food cake (with red crystalized sugar on top). Emily kept getting Marsha Ann to read books to her, it was SO cute. I hope you all had a great Valentines day....and weekend. I love you all!!!

Bath Time

I took some pictures tonight at bath time and wanted to share them. Emily LOVES her bath and screams when it's time to get out. She has changed so much in the past week I can't even describe it. She loves to sing "Old Macdonald's Farm", "BINGO", other songs to "BINGO", "Jesus Loves Me", and anything to a tune. She's SO funny. She is getting potty training WELL under way. Several weeks ago I started putting her in real big girl panties, and much to my surprise, it has worked. We started the potty chart and now she doesn't even care to put stickers she just uses it. Yesterday she was playing and she went, "Ooh I gotta go potty" and she ran to the potty, pulled everything down, climbed up on the potty (the big one) and went all by herself! YEAH!!! She's been doing this most of the time now too. I'm so proud of her. She still has accidents, but it's just great she's doing this good with it all.

I had my follow-up appointment with the cardiologist today and it went really well. I was there almost 2 and half hours, but it went good. Dr. Oddis said that he wanted me to keep taking the medicine for 4-6 more months and he hopes that my heart will re-train itself to beat slower on its own. He said that I will be able to get pregnant and shouldn't have any problems. He was really considerate and spent time answering alot of my questions. I'm just glad that I won't have to take the medicine for that much longer, and pray that my heart will get it straight on it's own soon!!!

Busy Weekend

We had the busiest weekend ever this weekend (for us at least). Friday night our adult Sunday school class had a baby shower for our minister of music and his wife. It was alot of fun and Emily really enjoyed it too. It was for men and women, so it was like a fellowship too. We ate pizza, salad, fruit, and the BEST cake ever & did alot of laughing...something we needed. Saturday morning was children's ministry day at our church. Glenn and I helped and I am so glad we did. The kids (and Emily) all stuffed bags with first aid items in them to carry to the Free medical clinic here in Macon. I never knew it existed but was really excited about going and meeting one of the doctors. We carried 40 bags (of cotton balls, alcohol, peroxide, soap, tooth brushes, Kleenex etc) plus some items for a man who is just out of jail and trying to get back on his feet. It was a really neat experience and hope to get to do more of this soon.

After that we ate lunch at Chick-fil-A (Emily's favorite), then headed home to pick up gifts for the 2 birthday parties we had to attend. The first one was Merritt's and was at 2:00pm. We went and had fun there. Emily enjoyed playing with all her toys. The second party was at 3:30pm at a new park here in town. We had alot of fun playing and seeing everyone from church again. It is a little boy, Causey, who is Emily's friend at church. We left there at 5:00pm to come home and were very exhausted after being gone since 9:30 that morning. Did you notice that the time slots never mention Emily taking a nap...because she didn't!!! She was asleep before 8:00!!! She did really good, but was a little irritable. I think we all were though. I'm still dragging today, but need to go so I can finish working on a dress for little Abigail at church. A Freezing COLD Day

I woke up this morning and it was 20 degrees!!! I'm sure the wind chill was in the teens but I wasn't going to go find out. We have been inside all day so far, and I don't forsee it warming up since it's under 40 still. We did some preschool type activities today. After breakfast Emily played by herself with her new Dr. kit while I cleaned up the kitchen. After that we did some home-making skills by washing and drying towels then later by folding and putting them up. They don't always get to where they're suppose to when she puts them up, I'm just glad she tries. After that we did an activity with the letter "A". I took some notecards and wrote the letter "A" on them and then hid them all throughout the house. She was given one to look at and we said it and all that, then she went on her hunt. She knows the letter "A" now. We played that game for 45 minutes!!! Then I let her hide them while I took a break. After that game we did some "art" by forming different animals out of playdough. We made an "A" out of it too, to be consistent. After playdough, we played hospital. She found most all of her babies and we laid them out on blankets and fed and gave them shots, checked temperature, and etc. This is her favorite "home living" thing, caring for babies and being the Dr.

After that was lunch, and then story time. We read all her library books (and more) for 30 minutes at least! Now it's nap time...for her. It's SO cold, but I guess it is winter. I'm just glad I don't have to get out in it today. I'm working on a dress for a friend's little girl and am going to stitch flowers across it, SO I need to go and get started on it while I have the time. Emily has gotten better with washing her hair...she doesn't cry anymore (knock on wood). We got some cute pictures so enjoy.
