Homeschooling Adventures this year!

We have started our own little homeschooling group with a friend from church who's daughter is also in 2nd grade.  We've met 2 times already and have had a good time.  She does the science and of course I do the art.  It really helps 1. so I get my house cleaned up by Friday's, 2. because I am not as strong with doing science, and 3. also helps us get all our Friday school work done early!!!!

This particular week they were looking at mummy's and they drew a face on one side of an apple then placed it in a bag with baking soda, borax and washing soda and salt.  After coating all sides and leaving it in the mixture we let it set for 1 week.

Below is a picture of her mummy apple.  It "preserved" the face, by drying out the liquid in the apple, leaving the skin, and it didn't mold.

Homeschooling doesn't stop on the weekends.  This past Sunday we had 2 of the girls to come home with Emily, and we had fun exploring in the yard.  Some times the best learning takes place by unstructured exploration!
Above is a leaf we found that had some tiny silver eggs laid on it. If you look real close you can see they have tiny spikes on them too!  We LOVE our flowers!!!!!

Photos from the past couple of months!

Since I've done a horrible job of blogging, here are a few pictures from the Fair, through the start of school this year.  Emily's birthday pictures are in the next post.  I promise I'm going to get better at blogging.  Enjoy the pictures!!!
