To start this post, let me say it's a long one, BUT it is not nearly as long as it could be. The Neshoba County Fair started last Friday, July 23rd. We had more fun than can be written out in this blog. Maybe the pictures will give you a glimpse of what the fair is like. Above is the Alford cabin, and our newly renovated porches. Enjoy these pictures and if you didn't get to go maybe you'll feel like you did...oh probably not because you're not sweating and don't smell like red dirt!
These pictures, the one above and the 2 below give you a good idea of the fair. Kids playing & getting dirty. Madison and Emily had so much fun playing in the sand and in the rocks in front of our cabin. Emily had to change clothes at least 3 times a day she got so dirty! If you have never been to the fair you just can't imagine it, but it's like one big HUGE playground for kids (young and old).
Visiting with Emily Deaton she hadn't seen Joseph yet. That's what I always love about the fair, you get to see people you haven't seen in a long time. It's like one big reunion.
This year we went out to the Fairgrounds on Thursday night before it all started. We let Emily get a ride band and she got to ride her favorite rides. The bees and motorcycles were her favorites Joseph wasn't to sure what to think about all the noise and flashing lights, but he liked it!

Emily doing her favorite thing, people watching. She loved talking to all the people walk by. She didn't meet a stranger the whole fair. Saturday was the annual flea market/craft show...so Joseph got to ride in the stroller and checked out all the neat crafts. He didn't find anything he just couldn't live without so he went back to the cabin pretty quick, because it was getting HOT.

We made a trip down to the rodeo on Friday night to let Emily see the horses. She enjoyed riding one the shoulders of her daddy and uncle Jason. Below is our family picture in front of the cabin, minus Brandy.
Glenn got Emily a snow cone and they had to stop to get the juices mixed. For those of you who are not familiar with the fair this is part of the Founders Square, and you can see all the different cabins.
Emily did a painting in the clothes line art contest, but she didn't get a ribbon. Madison placed several things in the exhibit hall and got several ribbons...we were admiring all her work.
Marty Stuart came into town, and we got to meet him and his wife Connie Smith. Emily would make her picture with Connie, but not Marty. When he spoke to her and tried to shake her hand she just started to scream. I felt so bad, but he was a little done up with his black scarf and white coat with jewels on it. She was just upset because Leroy Troy wasn't with him.

Madison wanted to hold Joseph all week, and she finally got to. He like her alot!

All the people there on Thursday for "Home town Proud" day. Moma won a door prize, and we almost won the scavenger hunt. If we had registered it under Emily's name I think we would've but we did it with Madison and she was in the older division. Maybe next year.
Joseph smiling on the porch. The Lieutenant Governor came by earlier this day and shook Joseph's hand...of course we had to wash his hands after because he had been shaking everyone's hands at the fairgrounds.
Emily got to meet author and meteorologist Barbie Bassett. We've never see her on tv...but Mamaw Costilow and my moma and Rhonda watch her faithfully.

Emily got to see a real helicopter, although we didn't get to see it land or take off. It was a Med Stat chopper that is brand new, $3 million dollars, and hasn't flown any patients yet. Below is our family picture...we always seem to make it when we are all hot, sweaty and tired. Can you tell this is the end of the week, and not the beginning! We had LOTS of fun and can't wait until next year. To all fair goers we go from fair to fair...that makes a year, not January through December...but fair to fair!

I hate we didn't see y'all more! My favorite pics are of her riding the motorcycles. I have a very vivid memory of Jason riding those...when we was about 13...oh the fun we used to have!
